Apply for Funds
Our 2026-2027 Grant Cycle Is Open!
The Montgomery County Educational Foundation is excited to announce that our 2026-2027 grant cycle is open now through August 28 @ 5 pm. DIFFERENT DATES, SAME PROCESS - Last year, we ran our grant cycle in parallel with the Community Foundation’s Education Grant cycle. To better serve our educators and provide them with two opportunities to apply for funds, we are running a more compressed grant cycle this year. We are opening our cycle later this year, but awarding funds earlier. We are still working directly with the Community Foundation to avoid duplicating funding.
MCPS educators, support organizations (such as PTAs/PTOs, Head Start, NRVJDH, etc.), and students may apply for grants up to $2,000. The MCEF seeks to fund innovative and engaging projects that enhance student learning beyond the standard curriculum or provide unique experiences that fall outside the scope of MCPS funding. For MCEF grant cycle questions, applicants should contact Connie Froggatt at (540) 382-5100 X1098 or by email at info@montcoef.org.
Per MCPS policy, all grant awards must be approved by the School Board. The MCPS Director of Strategic Innovation and Grants, Dr. Matt Dunleavy, is available to support MCPS grant applicants anytime they are applying for a grant. MCPS applicants are required to submit ALL grant proposals to Dr. Dunleavy to facilitate School Board approval, and they are also encouraged to use his services when writing their proposal. He can be reached at mattdunleavy@mcps.org.
Grant notifications will go out in early October. Grant recipients or their designee are required to attend the Grant Awards Recognition scheduled for October 20th during the School Board meeting. All grant recipients will be required to submit a Grant Final Report due no later than June 1, 2027.
Preparing your proposal before starting the application form is strongly encouraged. The Grant Application questions and the Grant Scoring Rubric are provided below for your reference. The MCEF recommends writing responses in a word processor and copying them into the application form for the narrative parts of the application.
Please note that requests for Professional Development and Travel/Transportation, including field trips are not accepted. Please contact the MCEF at info@montcoef.org for those requests.
To all those who apply, the MCEF and MCPS extend their sincerest thanks for wanting to improve your students' educational experience!
